She has reported from numerous places that start with the letter B, including Bangalore, Berkeley, Baltimore and Burma.
She now covers health and technology for The Industry Standard and contributes to The Washington Post's health desk.

Prior to becoming a journalist, Sindya studied computer science at Carnegie Mellon University and then worked as a patent examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She spent her days rejecting and approving patent applications about graphical user interfaces. She also worked as a program manager for a children's non-profit in Bangalore.

While doing her Master's at UC Berkeley's School of Journalism she interned at The Baltimore Sun and The Washington Post. She is now happy to be back in Northern California, where there is no snow to be shoveled and 50 degree weather is considered cold.

Sindya is fluent in Tamil and studied Hindi for several years.
