Right after Hillary Clinton gathered the required delegates which allowed her to clinch the Democratic nomination, everybody believed that it was just a matter of time until Bernie Sanders would endorse her. However, the Vermont Senator needed a bit of extra time until taking this decision.
The Bern will join Hillary Clinton in tomorrow’s event!
According to ABC News, Bernie Sanders put an end to his campaign and decided to finally give all his support to Clinton, whom he will be joining this Tuesday, at a rally in New Hampshire.
The Senator, alongside Hillary Clinton, are expected to “discuss their commitment to building an America that is stronger together and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” an official campaign statement says.
Sanders’ endorsement is the result of private negotiations between the two campaigns and a talk he had with President Barack Obama a few weeks ago. Also, Hillary Clinton promoted multiple causes supported by the Bern during he latest speeches, including the plan to eliminate in-state tuition at public colleges and universities for families with annual incomes under $125,000, alongside the issue of health care.
“I congratulate Secretary Clinton for this extremely important initiative,” Mr. Sanders said in a statement, referring to her health care outline. “The proposal, in a very significant way, addresses the crisis we now face in primary health care.”
He can’t have it all, though…
However, another one of Bernie Sanders‘ objectives, blocking the ratification of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, is now history. During her terms as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton was a supporter of it, but during the primaries, she avoided supporting it, as it wasn’t covering some specific measures. Still, Bernie will endorse her!
“I think it’s fair to say that the Clinton campaign and I, our campaign, are coming closer and closer together,” he told reporters on Saturday.
