Republican candidate Chris Christie got some help on Saturday night when Union Leader, an influential newspaper in New Hampshire, decided to endorse the New Jersey governor, says CNN.
Chris Christie’s presidential campaign isn’t looking too good, with the New Jersey governor being on the bottom of the Republican list, but Christie received a boost from the New Hampshire Union Leader in an attempt to raise his campaign.
A great president for these times
“Gov. Christie is right for these dangerous times, he has prosecuted terrorists and dealt admirably with major disasters. But the one reason he may be best-suited to lead during these times is because he tells it like it is and isn’t shy about it. Other candidates have gained public and media attention by speaking bluntly. But it’s important when you are telling it like it is to actually know what you are talking about”, said the paper’s publisher Joseph McQuaid in an editorial.
This endorsement couldn’t have came in a better moment for Chris Christie, as people are starting to talk again about the New Jersey governor after the Paris attacks, which have moved national security issues into the 2016 spotlight, claims the same source. “We don’t need another fast-talking, well-meaning freshman U.S. senator trying to run the government. We are still seeing the disastrous effects of the last such choice.”, says McQuaid in his editorial.
A new rally in New Hampshire, scheduled for next week
Chris Christie will again visit New Hampshire on Monday, when is expected to receive the support of the real estate developer Renee Plummer, a key political figure in the state. Christie will also host a town hall and meet up with a law enforcement group.
The New Jersey governor has struggled to get the attention he wanted, so this endorsement from the Union Leader is a much needed help in his campaign.
