As the presidential race gets closer to its final moment, the general elections in November, more and more details about the infamous Clinton email scandal are revealed. According to CNN Politics, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was rumored to know who advised Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to use a private email server.
Nothing from Mrs. Rice yet
When asked about a potential conversation between Hillary Clinton and Colin Powell that reportedly took place during a dinner party of former Secretaries of State, back in 2009, when Powell advised Clinton to use a private email account, an aide to Rice said that she has “no recollection” of this.
“Dr. Rice isn’t doing any media right now. I can tell you, though, that she has no recollection of that conversation either,” said Georgia Godfrey, Rice’s chief of Staff at the Stanford University.
Currently, it is unknown if she was present when Mr. Powell mentioned the private email server, but we do know that she attended the dinner party, as stated by reports.
The dinner party was hosted by Madeleine Albright, in order to celebrate Hillary Clinton’s appointment as America’s top diplomat. Several former Secretaries offered her advice, including Colin Powell, who said that a personal email account would be a good idea.
She was using a private account for a long time!
However, when asked about this, he started pushing back on reports. “The truth is, she was using the private email server for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did,” Powell said.
A few weeks ago, FBI director James Comey announced that he is against pushing charges on Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State. However, he wanted to mention that her behavior was “extremely careless”.
