Republican Donald Trump is the new President of the United States, succeeding Barack Obama in office, after managing to beat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

The announcement was made by the Washington Post and confirmed by news agency Associated Press, after the businessman obtained 276 Electoral College votes, with 6 more than required to win the general elections.
Hillary Clinton has already congratulated Donald Trump and she acknowledged her defeat.
When he announced his candidacy, Trump was dismissed as a “joke” candidate, while nobody expected him to go past the primaries, considering that he doesn’t have any kind of political experience.
On the other side, his rival, Hillary Clinton, has an impressive career working in politics, serving as Senator and Secretary of State.
Donald Trump’s campaign has been filled with controversy, the latest scandal beginning a few weeks ago, after a recording with him bragging about groping woman against their will, made the rounds only and seriously threatened his campaign.
Will Trump actually do all those things he built his campaign upon?
Besides this, it is well known that topics like banning Muslims from entering the United Stated, deporting all undocumented immigrants, building a wall on the Southern border or improving the relationship with Russia resulted in Trump being present in the headlines for weeks.
