Here Comes The Pope, Here Comes The Pope

With Pope Francis due to visit the US this September, the White House is hoping that a meeting with the pontiff will boost their ratings in the eyes of the voting public and the world’s Catholics as well.

So far, the Pope hasn’t shown a major interest in spending a good deal of time with President Obama and it’s only speculative as to why The Pope has become the most popular Pope since St John Paul II. His progressive views have shocked the hardline Catholics and delighted the common folks He’s epitomized the type of Christian leadership that goes back to the beginnings of the religion, instead of the harsh and strict disciplines of the church’s long and controversial history.

Obama and the Democrats know full well, that the Pope’s blessing means millions of votes in their favor. Pope Francis, knowing this, can parlay his influence toward issues he holds as important such as the illegal immigration issue in the US. This is where the road gets rocky. The Republicans love the Pope, but their own rhetoric flies in the face of the compassion of the Pope’s message regarding the issue to the world. Both political parties are going to have to cater to the Pope and hope for the best, but Francis is very smart and knows he holds much sway here.

His visit will invigorate his followers and they’ll be sitting on the edge of their seats regarding every word he utters This trip could be monumental. Francis could open up a tirade regarding the continuing rampant greed and violence being perpetrated around the world and that might point the finger toward the US and both political parties. No one is safe in this respect so both Dems and Repubs are going to be walking on eggshells for the duration of his visit.

The media will be having a field day with every twist and turn during the Pop’s visit. The Corporate Media, mostly owned by Rupert Murdoch, will have their own agendas and getting objective reporting may be quite the challenge. The social media world will be swamped with commentary, videos, and pictures of every step the Pope takes in public, and any slip ups by the politicians, especially Obama, will be broadcast far and wide to devastating effects.

A social media Pope, using the latest in computing technologies to influence governments and the masses is something quite special and opens a new era. It would behoove the White House to recognize this power and accommodate it appropriately.
