Is Mitt Romney the best choice for secretary of state?

It is well known that Donald Trump is highly considering Mitt Romney for secretary of state, but some of his allies are advising him to reconsider this, according to Politico.

Among those who don’t want Romney on this position are former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, as well as House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who claim that the 2012 GOP presidential nominee is far from being loyal to the president-elect.

Is Romney a loyal party member?

To be more specific, Mr. Huckabee warned about the fact that disloyal Republicans could be a distraction in the administration!

“It’s not about that I don’t care for Mitt personally, but I’m still very unhappy that Mitt did everything he could to derail Donald Trump,” Huckabee said. “He didn’t just go after him from a standpoint of saying I disagree with his policy on immigration or I disagree with his policy on taxes. He attacked him on a personal level about his character, integrity, his honor.”

However, Mitt Romney isn’t Trump’s only option, as he’s also considering former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani for this position, and the search will definitely broaden, since a final decision isn’t imminent right now.

Let’s just think about some previous declarations…

Back in March, during a speech in Salt Lake City, Mitt Romney called Donald Trump a “phony” and a “fraud”, not to mention the moment when he called on voters to cast their primary ballot for any Republican candidate that had a chance to win against Donald Trump in their state.

Finally, let’s not forget about Romney warning about the dangers a Trump administration could bring, alongside blasting his “flimsy at best” policies, or “very, vert not smart” foreign policy strategies.

Will Donald Trump appoint Mitt Romney as secretary of state, considering all these declarations made in the past? If so, it will definitely be a very weird decision!
