After Donald Trump won in seven of 11 states on Tuesday, everybody seemed resigned to the fact that the mogul may win his party’s nomination. But Ted Cruz also had a good day and now he’s the only hope to stop Trump for being one step closer to the White House.
Ted Cruz’s Tuesday was almost Super
Ted Cruz looked lost in his race with Trump, but he did manage to obtain a good result, winning in Texas (his home state) by 17 points, Oklahoma and Alaska. After losing evangelicals to Donald Trump in South Carolina, these three wins were a sweet relief for Cruz.
Arkansas was also a state where the Texas Senator did well, losing only by 2 points to the businessman. With Rubio down the water after Tuesday’s elections, Cruz remains the only hope for those who can’t imagine a U.S with Trump in charge. Speaking about Marco, he had a very disappointing night, losing even Virginia, and continues to not live up to his potential.
“Cruz is not my favorite by any means … but we may be in a position where we have to rally around Cruz as the only way to stop Trump. I’m not so sure that would work”, said Sen. Lindsey Graham for CBS, according to The Washington Post.
More and more republicans are against the idea of trump being the nominee
This statement shows the exact despair that embraced some of the Republicans. “I can’t believe I would say yes, but yes”, continued Graham when asked if he would recommend rallying behind Cruz to stop Trump.
With Ben Carson saying that he’s not ready to quit “quite yet,”, according to the same source, the GOP field is still split. And from this, only Donald Trump is winning. “So long as the field remains divided, Donald Trump’s path to the nomination remains more likely.”, said Ted Cruz during his speech in Houston, quoted by The Washington Post.
