Just What We Need, More Al Qaeda Threats

In an announcement that raised major red flags, the leader of Al Qaeda has made sweeping threats calling on all its members to attack Western targets from within.

Once again, Ayman al-Zawahri has sent out another dire series of threats and this time via his audio recording, the United States and its allies in the West are going to have to be on the alert for the most sinister form of terrorism. Al Qaeda’s numbers within these target countries is unknown. They may also have sympathizers among the targeted nation’s population that might carry out these attacks, thus making the danger of critical importance. How real the threat is has yet to be assessed, however just a handful of agents could wreak untold havoc given tactics and technologies available.

Should such agents attack high profile events where thousands attend, the death toll could be catastrophic. The availability of destructive materials to a group like Al Qaeda that has immense funding could compromise the best of security measures. To Al Qaeda’s advantage is the lack of competent security across the board, especially in the US. With borders to the north and south so unsecured that 100s of thousands of illegal immigrants still pour into the country, an Al Qaeda operative or team could literally walk in unnoticed. Given the immense volume of contraband, weapons, dope, money, that flood the borders, Al Qaeda would not find it difficult to invade and execute their nefarious plans. Add to that, many from the Al Qaeda occupied regions can pass visually as South Americans, they could compromise the identities of real Central and South American citizens, sneak into the US, acquire weapons and meander their way to the more densely populated and secure sections of the country. From there, they would be able to disrupt just about any facility, institution, and more with impunity.

The American government knows they’re helpless here as they’ve refused to secure their borders due to nothing less than fear. To cut off illegal trade over the borders would mean a drop in underworld revenue by which most of the country depends on. Without that revenue, millions would be plunged into poverty and destitution.

It’s a double edged sword. Protect the borders and starve or let things ride and hope for the best. Either is haphazard and the American people, whose lives are in the balance have yet to be given solutions by their leadership as to how Al Qaeda continues to be a threat after over 11 years of war in Afghanistan alone.

Now with the flood of refugees flooding into Europe from Al Qaeda controlled areas, it’s a sure bet that thousands of their operatives are now sitting comfortable in the European nations, just biding their time to strike.
