The United States border with Canada is the longest in the world at 5,525 miles. It is also referred to as the world’s longest undefended border. Mr. Walker’s rival Donald Trump has called for Mexico to pay for a wall to be built on the border with the US. Trump ideas on both border issues and immigration has put pressure on other candidates to take stances on the issues more aggressively. Mr. Walker has come under scrutiny on the border immigration issues because of shifting goal positions.

Mr. Walker’s support has slipped in recent weeks even as Mr. Trump’s poll numbers increase. Generally Canada is not considered a big source of illegal immigration. However, there have been concerns about terrorists using the US – Canada border to enter the United States. Canadian Defense Minister Jason Kenney also reiterated that leaving the border open is good for trade that the idea of thickening the border would be vigorously opposed by Canadians.
