The Rise Of Concealed Carry, A Benefit For America?
Well, the statistics are in. The rise of concealed carry guns is showing some surprising changes in the country like never before. This goes double for women and minorities, whose rates of getting gun permits have accelerated at considerable proportions.
The state gun laws had previously prohibited these two groups from owning concealed carry guns. The previous laws were blatantly designed to give the advantage to men, especially white men. Now that several victories have emerged from the courts, including the Supreme Court in regard to the meaning of the 2nd Amendment, the restrictions that states had, have been rapidly eroding. Now, it’s far easier for citizens who want to own and carry guns for protection.
In concordance with these rises in pistol ownership across the board, not only for women and minorities, another statistic has fallen. In areas where concealed and carry is permitted, crime has fallen, in particular violent crime, to levels that warrant nothing short of celebration. The facts are clearly laid out, when criminals know that the possibility of their victims being able to defend themselves with firearms, they think twice about their intentions. This is just simple common sense and math. Why it has taken so long to come about is obvious, and anti-gun advocates are gnashing their teeth at the truth.
For far too long, honest, law abiding citizens have gone at a disadvantage regarding violent crime and property crime. The headlines were constantly filled with stories of people who lost their lives and possessions to armed criminals, many of whom were repeat offenders. As more stories emerge of citizens getting the high ground on these criminals, it sends a stark message to all that people are finally able to fight back.
There is a plethora of data to support this from Gallup Polls to numerous academic and governmental research studies. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what is going on. People are arming themselves, getting proper training in the use of firearms, and defending themselves. A new deterrent is at work here, and it appears the trend isn’t about to slow down any time soon. Of extra note are the changes in the inner city high crime areas where the honest citizens are arming themselves. Crime in these areas has dropped as well, which is a clear indication that the citizenry is taking responsibility for their own safety.
Where will this go from here?
This dramatic change will continue to expand until it hits a crescendo of those who want to carry. It is certain that continued research and statistics will be gathered, and illogical assumptions will fall. The bottom line is that concealed carry will protect the people regardless of what opponents say.
