We’re already used to hearing Donald Trump claiming that the Democrats and other organizations are trying to manipulate the elections in order to stop him for winning, but his latest declaration, made this Tuesday in Miami, is more than just interesting.
After ending his stop at the Doral resort, the businessman told reporters that President Barack Obama should know more about the prospect of a “rigged” election, says USA Today.
Does the President know something about this?
“Ask Obama - tell him to look at his tape when he was running eight years ago,” he told reporters.
Apparently, Donald Trump was referring to a moment from Obama’s 2008 campaign, when he answered a supporter from Ohio, which wanted to be reassured “that this election will not be rigged or stolen.”
“Well,” the then-Illinois senator replied, in Ohio “we got Democrats in charge of the machines.” Obama also said during that 2008 exchange: “But look, I come from Chicago, so I want to be honest, it’s not as if it’s just Republicans who have monkeyed around with elections in the past. Sometimes, Democrats have, too.”
As for the President’s point of view, he did mention the moment in a conference last week, suggesting that such thing as a “rigged” election is not going to happen.
Barack Obama denies the accusations
“There’s no evidence that that has happened in the past, or that there are instances in which that will happen this time,” Obama said. “And so I’d advise Mr. Trump to stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes.”
Donald Trump told his supporters that they must fight a “crooked Establishment”, as well as a media that is made of a “bunch of phony lowlifes”, conspiring with Hillary Clinton to steal the victory on November 8 from him.
“We’re going to have a big victory,” Trump said. “A lot of people are going to be surprised,” he wrapped up his campaign in Florida.
