When you’re fighting with Donald Trump for the GOP nomination spot, you have to expect a war, full of malicious words. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie discovered this aspect when he and New Hampshire’s largest newspaper, the Union Leader, were the targets of the mogul’s recent attacks, says Miami Herald.
A newspaper was one of Trump’s targets as well
It looks like the endorsement given by Union Leader to Chris Christie really upset Trump. On Monday, in front of a crowd attending in New Hampshire, Trump launched his attacks against the paper, McQuaid and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. “You have a very dishonest newspaper, it’s also a failing newspaper.”, said the businessman, according to the same source.
Publisher Joseph McQuaid’s response was also strong and adviced New Hampshire voters not to elect Trump in the state’s Feb. 9 primary. “Trump has shown himself to be a crude blowhard with no clear political philosophy and no deeper understanding of the important and serious role of President of the United States than one of the goons he lets rough up protesters in his crowds,” McQuaid wrote in a front-page editorial.
Is Christie really ruining New Jersey?
Offended by McQuaid’s reaction, Trump once again put Chris Christie in the middle of the dispute. He said that McQuaid told him he would never endorse Christie, because he was photographed hugging President Barack Obama days before the 2012 election, claims Miami Herald. Then, Trump jumped directly to Christie.
“The people say: Why is he ruining New Jersey? We’re a disaster state, we’re going to hell and our governor’s up in New Hampshire every day doing town hall meetings.”, said the businessman, quoted by the same source. Although Chris Christie doesn’t actually represent a serious thread to Trump, the mogul’s strive with the New Jersey Gov. seems far from finished.
