Report has revealed that America’s presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s personal email account
has been under attack by a Russian linked hacker on the morning of August.3.2011. The hacker was said to have tried to gain access into her computer five times by sending her malicious attachments in form of speed tickets.
It is however unclear if Clinton printed the ticket or not thereby exposing her account to hackers.
Nick Merrill, a spokesman for Clinton’s Democratic presidential campaign however had this to say to Associated Word Press. “ we have no evidence to suggest she replied to this email or that she opened the attachment, their is no evidence that the system was ever breached. All there emails show is that, like millions of other Americans, she received spam.
It was however revealed by security researchers who analyzed the software in September 2011 that the infected computer would transmit information to three server computers outside America with one of the servers in Russia. The malware in the attachments were revealed to have been embedded with the ability to reveal sensitive information such as giving the hacker ability to monitor communications, steal data, and gain access into the State Department network and possibly advance into other government networks.
